Valerie Browning on 60 Minutes
AngliCORD's partner Valerie Browning recently appeared on the Channel 9 current affairs show 60 Minutes.
60 Minutes reporter Michael Usher travelled to the Afar region of Ethiopia, where Valerie lives and works, to meet the Australian nurse who he described as “one of our unsung national treasures”.
As Michael says, Valerie has "dedicated her life" to the nomadic Afar people who are "among the poorest people in the world".
The story gives a wonderful insight into the work of Valerie and her Afar husband Ismael Ali Gardo and the indigenous Afar Pastoralist Development Association (APDA) which they established.
AngliCORD supports the APDA to deliver literacy, health and agricultural programs which are relevant to the needs of the marginalised nomadic Afar people.
