AngliCORD appoints new CEO
MELBOURNE: Anglican overseas development organisation, AngliCORD, today announced the appointment of Ms Misha Coleman as the new CEO of the organisation.
AngliCORD Board Chair Alison Taylor said Ms Coleman would provide strong leadership for the relief and development agency, which is part of the Anglican Church of Australia.
Archdeacon Taylor said: “We are very pleased that Misha will be joining us as our new CEO.
“The Board was very impressed with Misha’s breadth of experience in international development. We believe she will provide strong leadership for AngliCORD and ensure that it continues to be a high impact agency that serves the poor and marginalised in our world.”
Ms Coleman, who will take up her position next month, said: “I am looking forward to ensuring that AngliCORD is ready to help its partners respond to the serious challenges we now face including the impact of climate change and the burden of the global financial crisis.
“AngliCORD is a nimble and flexible organisation, which is a real strength. The agency is well placed to respond quickly to challenges and to work closely with its overseas partners.
“I have every confidence in AngliCORD’s committed team of staff as well as its supporters, Board members and volunteers as we seek to create new partnerships in the developing world, with committed Anglicans and with the private sector.”
Ms Coleman has extensive experience in aid and development and has worked in a number of countries including Vietnam, Cambodia, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines.
Most recently she worked as the Sustainability Manager for World Vision Australia with responsibility for designing carbon and poverty-reduction projects in Africa.
Ms Coleman has also worked for the Australian Government’s aid agency AusAID, and has led Asian Development Bank and US Government aid projects.
She has a Masters degree in Environmental Law and post-graduate qualifications in development studies. Ms Coleman also holds qualifications in midwifery and nursing.
In 2000 she was awarded the Australian Service Medal by the Australian Government for active duty in the Multinational Peacekeeping Mission to Bougainville. In 2007 she was awarded two medals by the Government of Vietnam for services to agricultural and fisheries development in Vietnam.
